Emma's walk - trek to Timor

Story

  I am really enjoying raising awareness about the inspiring work of the International Women's Development Agency (IWDA) and fundraising to support  IWDA's work with women throughout the Asia Pacific region, which will culminate for me in a 10 day adventure challenge – Taking Steps to Timor Leste - starting on 28 May this year.

During my time in Timor Leste with other IWDA supporters I'll be spending time visiting IWDA partner projects and doing a challenging 3 day trek including an ascent to the summit of 2963m Mount Ramelau, the highest mountain in Timor Leste.

I decided I wanted to support IWDA in this way because I don't see any reason why women and their communities in Timor Leste, or anywhere else, shouldn't enjoy the same basic human rights that I do, and I want to be part of bringing about that change.

And I feel so grateful for this opportunity - as an Australian woman - to stand in solidarity with Timorese women and their families.

I'd love you to join me on my journey and be part of empowering women throughout the Asia Pacific through supporting the ongoing work of IWDA.
